Ingredients
For the Filling
- 4 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
For the Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
- Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread the apple mixture down the center of the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges well.
- Place the strudel seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
- Cut a few small slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

- Use tart apples such as Granny Smith for the best flavor.
- Add a handful of raisins or chopped walnuts for extra texture.
