Easy Apple Puff Pastry Strudel 🍎

A flaky, golden pastry filled with tender cinnamon apples—perfect for dessert, breakfast, or an afternoon treat!

Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 4 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Spread the apple mixture down the center of the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges well.
  6. Place the strudel seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush the top with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
  8. Cut a few small slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  10. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips

  • Use tart apples such as Granny Smith for the best flavor.
  • Add a handful of raisins or chopped walnuts for extra texture.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
