🧾 Ingredients
For the Beef Stew:
- 700g beef chunks (chuck or stew meat)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp thyme (or mixed herbs)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional, for depth)
For Mashed Potatoes:
- 4 large potatoes (peeled & chopped)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt to taste
For Cabbage:
- 1/2 cabbage (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt & pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the Beef Stew
- Heat oil in a pot and brown the beef on all sides.
- Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onion until soft, then add garlic.
- Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
- Sprinkle flour and mix well.
- Gradually add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
- Add paprika, thyme, salt, pepper, and soy sauce.
- Return beef to the pot, cover, and simmer on low heat for 1.5–2 hours until tender and sauce thickens.
2. Make Mashed Potatoes
- Boil potatoes in salted water until soft (15–20 minutes).
- Drain and mash with butter and milk.
- Season with salt and mix until smooth and creamy.
3. Cook the Cabbage
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan.
- Add cabbage, salt, and pepper.
- Cook for 8–10 minutes until soft and slightly golden.
4. Assemble
- Serve beef stew with mashed potatoes and cabbage on the side.
