🧾 Ingredients

🥖 Dough:

  • 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) dry yeast
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk
  • 1/2 cup (100g) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup (120g) butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt

🌰 Walnut Filling:

  • 1 cup ground walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

⚫ Poppy Seed Filling:

  • 1 cup poppy seeds (ground)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)

✨ Topping:

  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  • In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and a little sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add eggs, melted butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  • Gradually add flour and knead until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.

2. Make the Fillings

  • Walnut: Mix all ingredients until thick paste forms.
  • Poppy Seed: Cook milk, sugar, and poppy seeds on low heat until thickened.

3. Shape the Rolls

  • Divide dough into portions.
  • Roll each into a rectangle.
  • Spread filling evenly.
  • Roll tightly into a log (like a Swiss roll).

4. Second Rise

  • Place rolls on a baking tray.
  • Cover and let rise for 20–30 minutes.

5. Bake

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Brush with egg yolk.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.

6. Serve

  • Let cool slightly.
  • Slice and dust with powdered sugar.
